D3 Football Roundup: Here's What To Know About D3 In Week 5
Week 5 of the NCAA football season is right around the corner! Here is a look at all things D3 heading into the weekend's contests!

Week 4 of NCAA D3 college football is in the books! With another action-packed and potentially chaos-filled weekend on the horizon, let’s see what the upcoming week has in store for D3.
Several D3 teams lived up to their expectations, while several fell just short in Week 4. We saw a top-five matchup, a couple of upsets, and high-scoring games across the D3 landscape.

With Week 5 on the horizon, there is so much football to look forward to at the D3 level, especially with the rankings shaking up as much as they have. With top-ranked teams getting some action, here’s a look ahead for this week in D3 football.
Week 4 Recap
Week 4 of Division III football brought a top-ranked vs. receiving-votes clash, a Texas showdown, nail-biting finishes, and dominant wins across the division. Here’s a look back at some of the biggest moments.
No.2 Mount Union vs. RV Baldwin Wallace
In a Week 4 matchup that saw the top of the rankings take on a school looking to find a home in the Top-25, No.2-ranked Mount Union came out on top.
The Purple Raiders remain undefeated on the season, now 3-0 overall and 1-0 in OAC. In the 42-23 victory, Mount Union tallied 495 yards of offense. Mikey Maloney was 22-for-32 on pass completion, 263 yards, and two touchdown passes.
Baldwin Wallace tallied 325 yards in the loss. Quarterback Charlie Bubonics was 13-for-32 on pass completion with 142 yards with two touchdown passes.
East Texas Baptist vs. Texas Lutheran
In one of the tightest matches of the week, the East Texas Baptist Tigers vs. the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs squared off in Seguin, Texas. The Tigers walked away victorious in the contest, 24-21.
In the narrow victory, the Tigers tallied 408 yards of offense. Shai Markajani was 6-for-20 on pass completion for 137 yards and one touchdown toss.
The Bulldogs tallied 503 yards of offense in the close loss. Reece Deitrick was 17-for-30 on pass completion with 274 yards and three touchdown passes.
A Glimpse At This Week’s Matchups
With all of the D3 matchups scheduled for kickoff as early as 12:00 PM ET on Oct. 4, here is a look at some of the most anticipated matches in the D3 football calendar.
Otterbein vs. No. 2 Mount Union
After being on the road the past two weeks, No. 2-ranked Mount Union will return home to take on Otterbein on Oct. 4. Mount Union is on a roll heading into its Week 5 contest. The Purple Raiders are 3-0 on the season and 1-0 in OAC play.
In the most recent victory over Baldwin Wallace, the Purple Raiders wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, scoring at least one in every quarter. Shaun Thomas was the leading rusher for the Purple Raiders with 91 yards on 11 carries and two touchdowns.
Otterbein is off to a slow start heading into the contest against Mount Union. The Cardinals are 0-3 on the season and 0-2 in OAC play.
In the most recent loss to Muskingum University, 37-13, the Cardinals tallied 251 yards of offense. Brayden Bales was 8-for-18 on pass completion with 81. Bales was also the leading rusher for Otterbein with 119 yards on 13 carries and one touchdown.
Marietta vs. Ohio Northern
The second game to be on the watch for in D3 football this week is Marietta vs. Ohio Northern.
The Marietta Pioneers are 3-0 overall and 2-0 in OAC play. The Pioneers take on their third road test of the 2025 season on Oct.4 by traveling to Ada, OH.
In the most recent victory over Capital University, 24-21, the Pioneers tallied 405 yards of offense. Quarterback Antwon Johnson was 14-for-29 with 146 yards and one touchdown toss.
Ohio Northern enters the contest 2-1 overall and 2-0 in OAC play. The Polar Bears, in their most recent victory over Wilmington, 41-35, tallied 572 yards of offense. Quarterback Sam Feldman was 18-for-27 on completion with 293 yards and one touchdown pass.
