D3 Football Roundup: Here's What To Know About D3 This Week

Week 4 of the NCAA D3 season is underway! Here is a look back at all of the action in Week 3 and what's ahead in Week 4.

Week 3 of NCAA D3 college football is in the books! This season is moving so fast, it’s hard to believe we are already in Week 4 of the NCAA season. With another action-packed and potentially chaos-filled weekend on the horizon, let’s see what the upcoming week has in store for D3. 

In an eventful Week 3, several D3 teams lived up to their expectations, while several fell just short. This week saw a top-five matchup, a couple of upsets, and high-scoring games across the D3 landscape. 

With Week 4 on the horizon, there is so much football to look forward to at the D3 level, especially with the rankings shaking up as much as they have. With top-ranked teams getting some action, here’s a look ahead for this week in D3 football. 

Week 3 D3 Football Recap

Week 3 of Division III football saw a top-five matchup, close scores, and some massive wins for teams all across the division. Here is a look back and some of the biggest action in Week 3 of D3 football. 

No. 3 Johns Hopkins vs. No. 4 Susquehanna 

In a top-five matchup that had all eyes on D3 football, Johns Hopkins lived up to expectations and came away victorious. 

In the self-proclaimed “Battle of the Birds,” the Blue Jays soared to a 40-22 victory after getting a slow start offensively. In the contest, Johns Hopkins tallied 455 yards of offense, with 258 yards coming through the air. Quarterback Bay Harvey was 17-for-24 on pass completion with two touchdown passes. 

On the Susquehanna side of the ball, the Riverhawks totaled 384 yards of offense with 199 yards through the air. Quarterback Josh Ehrlich was 18-for-30 on pass completion with one touchdown pass. 

Chapman vs. Linfield

In the Battle of the Cats on Sept. 20, the Linfield Wildcats walked away from the matchup in the win column, 28-13. 

The Wildcats tallied a total of 304 yards of offense. Quarterback Luke McNabb was 14-for-24 on pass completion with 170 yards and three touchdown tosses. 

On the Chapman side, the Panthers tallied 313 yards of offense. Quarterback Tyler Pacheco was 9-for-23 on pass completion. Pacheco had 225 yards with one touchdown toss. 

A Glimpse At This Week’s D3FB Matchups

With all of the D3 matchups scheduled for kickoff as early as 7:00 PM ET on Sept. 26, here is a look at some of the most anticipated matches in the D3 football calendar. 

East Texas Baptist vs. Texas Lutheran

A battle of the Texas schools commences once again at 2:00 PM ET on Sept. 27. East Texas Baptist will travel to Texas Lutheran in the theme's last week of non-conference play. 

ETBU enters the contest 3-0 on the season with its most victories over Centenary College, 50-33. In the victory, the Tigers tallied 511 yards of offense. Starting quarterback Shai Markajani was 18-for-27 with 182 yards with one touchdown pass. 

Texas Lutheran enters the contest 1-2 on the season after picking up a win on Sept. 20 against Southwestern, 38-35. 

In the victory, the Bulldogs tallied 425 yards of offense. Quarterback Reece Deitrick was 14-for-23 on pass completion with 218 yards and two touchdown tosses. 

No. 2 Mount Union vs. RV Baldwin Wallace

Based on the rankings from D3football.com, the No. 2-ranked Mount Union will travel to take on Baldwin Wallace on Sept. 27, with kickoff set for 1:30 PM ET. 

The Purple Raiders are 2-0 on the season and will open OAC play against Baldwin Wallace. In the most recent road victory over Grove City, the Purple Raiders took a commanding 49-14 win. Mount Union tallied 498 yards of offense in the contest. Starting quarterback Mikey Maloney was 21-for-31 with 305 yards and two touchdown passes. 

Baldwin Wallace comes into the contest 3-0 and 2-0 on OAC play. This contest will be the third conference game for the Yellow Jackets. In the most recent victory over Capital, 44-7, the Yellow Jackets walked away with 487 yards of offense. Charlie Bubonics was 23-for-33 on pass completion with 224 yards and one touchdown pass.
