It's Lone Star Conference football time in D2 football. This week, the No.4-ranked Angelo State Rams host the Western New Mexico Mustangs. Here's the stats!

Lone Star Conference play continues for these two teams in Week 3 of the NCAA D2 football season. Based on the FloCollege rankings, the No.4-ranked Angelo State will play host to the Western New Mexico Mustangs on Sept. 20 at LeGrand Stadium at 1st Community Credit Union Field.

The Rams will hope to stay perfect in an early 2025 season after a LSC victory on Sept. 13 over the Eastern New Mexico Greyhounds. In the contest that saw ASU win 31-20 after a two-and-a-half hour rain delay in Portales, NM, the Rams were rewarded with LSC honors for Week 2.
Owen Seaver was tabbed the LSC Defensive Player of the week after his performance at Eastern New Mexico. The defensive end has eight tackles, three of them for loss in the contest against the Greyhounds. Seaver also had a sack and a fumble recovery in his defensive effort.
Zeek Freeman was awarded LSC Special Teams Player of the week. During his performance in Portales NM, Freeman returned a kickoff for 88-yards and a touchdown. This was the first kickoff return for a score in the LSC for the 2025 season.
The Mustangs are hoping to bounce back in Week 3 after taking an LSC loss on Sept. 13 to the West Texas A&M Buffaloes. In the 58-27 loss, Connor Ackerly was a bright spot for the Mustangs. Ackerly was 27-for-43 on pass completion with 324 yards and four touchdown passes.
