No.13 West Alabama Completes Comeback, Downs No. 14 Charleston in Week 2

The No.13-ranked West Alabama Tigers completed the comeback in Livingston to defeat the No.14-ranked Charleston Golden Eagles! Relive the action here!

The No.13-ranked West Alabama Tigers defended its home field and completed a late comeback to down the No.14-ranked Charleston Golden Eagles in a Top-20 matchup on Saturday, Sept. 13. 

In a matchup that saw a slow start to both offensive momentums early in the game, it was a late surge of offensive spark that pushed the Tigers to a victory in Livingston, AL. 

The Tigers started off slow, not seeing offensive action until early in the second-quarter, when a made field goal by Elijah Guyton put West Alabama's first points on the board. The Tigers would go two-for-two on field goals on the day. 

West Alabama continued to play with grit for all four quarters and had back and forth offensive drives with the Golden Eagles a majority of the second-half. Quarterback Spencer Arceneaux put the Tigers back on top late in the fourth, after a 71-yard rushing touchdown extended the Tiger lead to its final 28 points. 

Arceneaux finished the day 16-28 on pass completion with 213 yards through the air, 90 yards rushing, two touchdown tosses and one rushing touchdown. 

Charleston did not go down without a fight in the point-for-point contest aginst the Tigers. The Golden Eagles struck first in the opening quarter, when a muffed Tiger punt was recovered in the end zone by Marquan Herron for the first score. 

The Golden Eagles would hold on to a lead a majority of the game , until a late fumble at the start of the fourth-quarter shifted the momentum back in favor of the Tigers. 

Quarterback Ean Hamric ended the day 20-for-44 on pass completion for 290 yards and one passing touchdown. Yves Bosmans was the leading receiver for the Golden Eagles with seven receptions for 144 yards and one touchdown. 

West Alabama moves to 3-0 on the season and stay home on Sept. 20 to host Barton College. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 PM ET.  

Charleston moves to 1-2 on the season and will return to Charleston, WV on Sept. 20 to host Concord University. Kickoff is set for 1:00 PM ET.

The Tigers showed fight in the second-half and rallied scores late to continue their winning season. Tigers claim a 28-24 victory to open the home schedule in Livingston, AL.

Hamric and the Golden Eagles offense complete the rush for a late first down. The Golden Eagles are still marching down the field with less than a minute left to play. 

Tiger Defense Gets The Sack - 4Q 2:23

The Tiger defense is on lock late in regulation. Hamric is sacked for a loss of one for the Golden Eagles and the Tigers take over on downs with just over two minutes left to play.

Just two plays in the West Alabama drive after the punt, and the Tigers are back in the endzone! Spencer Arceneaux keep the football himself for a 71-yard rushing touchdown! 

The extra point is good and with just over four-minutes left to play, it is a close one in Livingston.

The West Alabama defense is holding strong late in the fourth quarter. After forcing a long pass on 3rd-and-8 from the Golden Eagles, Steven Earnest punts 49 yards for the Golden Eagles.

The Tigers find the endzone once again! Arceneaux connects with Dearrius Nelson on the 14-yard touchdown pass. After a penalty on the first try for the two-point conversion, Arceneaux finds Nelson again for a successful two-point conversion. 

With just under 11-minutes left to play, a field-goal separates the Tigers and Golden Eagles.

The fourth quarter gets off to an electric start as Jaylen Butera had a massive rush for the Golden Eagles to open the quarter. Butera fumbled as he was brought down and Devonte Harris recovered for the Tigers. It's a Tiger first-down to start the drive.

The end of the third-quarter shows the Golden Eagles still holding on to a lead over the Tigers. It is still anyone's game as the game heads into the final quarter.

Charleston adds another touchdown to its offensive efort late in the third-quarter. Ean Hamric completes the 59-yard pass to Yves Bosmans who walks it in for the Golden Eagle score.

After the Golden Eagles put a quick three on the board, the Tigers responded in similar fashion. Guyton nailed the 34-yarder for the Tigers and just like that, it's a four point game.
