Week 1 of football kicks off for the NCAA Division II schools and Sept. 5 sees No. 4 Slippery Rock take on Franklin Pierce to open the season. 

The Rock will travel to the Ravens as Franklin Pierce will open its home schedule at Sodexo Field with kickoff set for 6:00 p.m. ET. This will be the first regular season games for both teams as neither had Week 0 matchups.

Based on the ranking by FloCollege, No. 4 ranked Slippery Rock will be the visiting team in Week 1. The Rock will head to Rindge, NH after a 2024 season that saw them go 12-2 overall and 5-1 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference play. The then-ranked No. 3 Rock made it to the NCAA DII National Semifinal game where they inevitably fell to the then ranked No. 2 ranked Ferris State Bulldogs 48-38.  

On the opposite side of the football, Franklin Pierce will start a two-game homestand to open its 2025 campaign. The Ravens will carry the momentum of the best season in program history in 2024. The team went 5-5 overall and 5-3 in Northeast 10 Conference play. The Ravens are predicted to place third based on the NE10 coaches poll.
