Maine took a 28-7 loss against Liberty, with starting quarterback and graduate student Carter Peevy passing for 132 yards, no touchdowns, and one interception. Fifth-year wide receiver led with three catches for 21 yards, and junior running back Sincere Baines recorded a career-high 77-yard rushing touchdown for the Black Bears' lone score.
William & Mary nearly overcame Furman in a 23-21 battle where Furman was able to capitalize on field goals to get a last-minute win. William & Mary junior starting quarterback Tyler Hughes impressed with 208 passing yards and 57 rushing yards, gaining both a passing and a rushing touchdown.
William & Mary is picked to finish seventh in the CAA, while Maine is picked to finish ninth. This weekend's matchup will be a true conference test for both squads.
