The first week of college football is set to bring some absolute heat to fans of the GLIAC conference, and it all begins on Thursday, August 28, with the showdown between the Bemidji State Beavers and Michigan Tech Huskies.

Michigan Tech left the 2024 season in the middle of the GLIAC rankings with a 7-4 overall, 4-3 conference record, but looks ready to reach new heights this year with starting quarterback and former backup Alex Bueno. He saw time in seven games last year for 135 passing yards and two touchdowns, bringing experience back to the Huskies and already impressing at summer camp.  

Bemidji State will surely be a test for the Huskies to open up their schedule as they sport a No. 16 ranking in FloCollege's debut D2 Football Top 25 Poll and a 10-4 overall record from last season. But the Beavers are losing dynamic duo quarterback Sam McGath and wide receiver Brice Peters, and have yet to determine a new starter. 

This matchup looks to challenge both teams as they gear up for a long season ahead, and it will be a game fans won't want to miss.
