The Butler University football program is coming off three solid seasons and will look to continue that momentum in 2025 under the guidance of a new head coach.

In December 2024, Kevin Lynch was introduced as the team’s new leader, moving to Butler from Ball State, where he was part of the coaching staff since 2016.

The Bulldogs were 9-3 overall last season and 5-3 in the Pioneer Football League, where they finished tied for third place.

Outgoing coach Mike Uremovich inherited a Butler team that was 3-8 in 2021. In three seasons of work, he helped the team go 7-4, 7-4 and 9-3. Uremovich now is the head coach at Ball State.

Lynch’s quest to keep things at Butler moving forward will start on the road at Northern Iowa on Aug. 30. The team’s first conference game will be at home against Marist on Sept. 27

Butler has won four PFL titles, but it has been more than a decade since the Bulldogs have hoisted the trophy (1994, 2009, 2012, 2013). 

They’ll play a 12-game slate in 2025, and they’ll again compete at the Division I FCS level.

When Do The 2025 NCAA Division I FCS College Football Playoffs Start?

The bracket selections for the 2025-2026 NCAA Division I FCS Championship will be announced Nov. 23, 2025. There will be a formal selection show.

The FCS playoffs will include 24 teams and begin on Nov. 29, 2025.

The 2025-2026 Division I FCS College Football Championship game will be played Jan. 5, 2026, at the First Bank Stadium on the campus of Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee.
