How To Watch University of Puget Sound Football In 2025

After assessing its 2024 season, the Puget Sound football team was able to be objective about its performance, celebrating a successful offensive campaign, while acknowledging that the defense needed some improvement.

Despite having the No. 8 passing offense in NCAA Division III football last season – 315.5 yards per game – the Loggers were 2-8 overall and 1-6 in Northwest Conference games. Across the full season, the team allowed 46.5 points per game, while only scoring 26.10.

The top-notch Puget Sound offense will return eight starters in 2025, while the defense will be under new leadership in co-coordinators Jud Keim and Jeff Schmidt. Schmidt has been with the team for almost a decade, serving various roles, and Keim joins the Loggers after a year at Lewis & Clark, another NWC team.

The standout Puget Sound offense in 2024 included wide receiver Joe Gallagher, who set program records for catches (133) and receiving yards (1,323), and he was joined by quarterback Mason Binning, who led the conference with 298 passing yards per game.

Though Binning has completed his career with the Loggers, leaving as their all-time completions leader (663), there’s a talented pool of quarterbacks vying to take his place, and they’ll get to throw to Gallagher for another season.

The last time Puget Sound won more than three games was a 6-4 effort in 2019.

The Loggers’ 2025 schedule kicks off at home Sept. 6 against fellow NWC team Lewis & Clark in a game that will not count toward their conference records. They will meet again Oct. 4 for their official conference showdown, which will be the start of conference play for both teams.
