The Coast Guard Bears enter the 2025 season hopeful to overcome the 5-5 hurdle from the past two years and claim their first winning season since 2018. It's been a tough five seasons under head coach C.C. Grant, but things seem to be going in the right direction.

The Bears retained starting quarterback Joey Armentrout in 2024, who threw for 2,723 yards, over 20 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. He was also known for his ability to run the ball in, gaining five rushing touchdowns and averaging 22 rushing yards per game. 

Coast Guard's leading running back James Wheeler IV had a massive increase in production from 2023 to 2024, upgrading from 328 rushing yards to over 1,000. He brought in six rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown for the Bears.  

Wheeler earned NEWMAC Football All-Conference First Team selection, alongside junior wide receiver Broock Desta. Desta had 727 receiving yards and a team-high nine receiving touchdowns. 

While the 2025 roster has not yet been announced, the return of Wheeler and Desta is very likely, while Armentrout might not make it back for a fifth season.
