The Baldwin Wallace Yellow Jackets have a history of excellence, and the 2025 football season will be no different. Returning several starters, including quarterback Charlie Bubonics, the Yellow Jackets are in great shape to have another year of excellence and compete for the OAC championship. As a sophomore, he threw for 2,146 yards and 25 touchdowns, running for another three scores. Not only is Bubonics returning, but the top two running backs, George Linberger and Tyrone Singleton are set to have big junior seasons.
Not only do they have returning experience on the ground, but in the air, with Tim Conwell and Connor Awad returning at receiver, two of Bubonics’ top targets in 2024. The two combined for 795 yards and 12 touchdowns.
The defense is also full of returning players, with top tackler Dom Troba returning for his senior season at linebacker. Troba led the team in tackles with 59, had 3.5 tackles for loss, half a sack and forced and recovered three fumbles. Troba will be surrounded by veterans on the defensive line and in the secondary, setting the Yellow Jackets up for success on both sides of the ball.
With head coach Jim Hilvert going into his ninth season at the helm of Baldwin Wallace, he holds a 56-26 overall record and was named OAC Coach of the Year, but is still chasing one thing, an OAC Championship.
This season, Baldwin Wallace seems to have everything it needs to win the OAC, a solid group of returning players on both sides of the ball and an established coaching staff, but it has to face the giants of Mount Union and Marietta.
Strong competition is one upside of being in the OAC, and this year, Baldwin Wallace is looking to end Mount Union’s reign as OAC Champion, looking to be the first team to do so since 2016.
