The Salve Regina Seahawks managed to remain within the top three teams in NEWMAC despite using this season to regain their footing. Following an outstanding 9-2 showing in 2023, the Seahawks were hopeful after retaining starting quarterback Jake Stack, but fell short with a 6-4 record.

Stack threw for 2,472 yards and 24 touchdowns in 2023, backed by five wide receivers that brought in over 200 yards each. This past season, however, the senior only saw time in five games, throwing for 901 yards, seven touchdowns and three interceptions until he was no longer seen on the field for unknown reasons. 

In Stack’s departure, wide receiver Anthony Bellizzi stepped in, throwing for 642 yards and three touchdowns. 

The Seahawks have not yet announced the 2025 starting quarterback, but that will undoubtedly be the first order of business if Salve Regina hopes to shock the conference once again. However, the team has yet to have a losing season in the last five seasons under head coach Kevin Gilmartin, and doesn’t look to drop one anytime soon under his guidance. 

Who Is The Salve Regina Football Head Coach?

Kevin Gilmartin turns to his 13th season with the Seahawks and remains the longest-tenured and winningest coach in program history with a 70-33 record. He’s also guided Salve Regina to the postseason in five of the last nine seasons, including two New England Bowl appearances and ECAC Bowl Championships in 2014 and 2015. 

Gilmartin has coached 92 All-Conference players, 13 of them major award winners, mostly offensive linemen of the year.
