The Springfield Pride have been at the head of the NEWMAC Conference for over five years now, capping off their fourth consecutive season undefeated in conference play and making it all the way through the regular season undefeated as well.

Springfield was seemingly on track to become the NCAA Division III National Champions, but posted their worst score of the season against North Central in the quarterfinals to miss out.

With such an impressive showing on the season, it comes as a surprise that Pride starting quarterback Jacob Silvester only threw for 342 yards and seven touchdowns through the entire year. The team’s top three receivers similarly only hauled in 369 yards and six touchdowns combined.

Instead, Springfield saw the most success with its two best pairs of legs, running backs Arsen Shtefan and Blane Hart. Graduate student Shtefan ran for 1,716 yards and 21 touchdowns, while senior Hart gained 830 yards and 17 touchdowns. The pair were just two of five players who rushed for over 500 yards.

The Pride has not released its 2025 roster yet, but Shtefan will not be making a return after five years with Springfield. Hart could possibly come back for a fifth year alongside fellow senior running backs Dante Vasquez, Sean Brown, and quarterback Silvester, who contributed 527 yards on the ground.

Springfield has never looked better under head coach Mike Cerasuolo, who looks to hit a decade serving the Pride this season.

Who Is The Springfield Football Head Coach?

Mike Cerasuolo has led Springfield to new heights within the nine seasons he’s been at the helm, finishing out the 2024-2025 season by leading the Pride to its fourth consecutive NEWMAC title.

Following an undefeated season, Cersasuolo earned Associated Press Division III National Coach of the Year honors and became the first ever recipient of the Walter Camp Division III Coach of the Year Award.

His 2023 campaign earned him ECAC Division III Coach of the Year and his team NEWMAC Coaching Staff of the Year after Springfield led the country in rushing offense with over 380 yards per game.

Despite roster and coaching staff changes throughout the years, Cerasuolo has been one of the most consistently successful coaches in NCAA Division III football, and there’s no doubt that he could take Springfield to the Playoffs once again this upcoming season.
