While the UT Permian Basin Falcons roster may look very different in 2025, the team is looking to build on its success from the 2023 and 2024 seasons when the Falcons had back-to-back winning seasons for the first time in program history. In 2024, the Falcons went 7-5, the second-most wins in program history but fell in a double-overtime dogfight at the Heritage Bowl to Central Missouri.

Now, missing several starters, head coach Kris McCullough is looking to find the new starters, while ensuring his veterans are in top form. While Issac Mooring is the top returning quarterback, having thrown for 1,573 yards and 14 touchdowns, the quarterback competition is still open. At running back, Kory Harris is looking to build off of his 1,061-yard, 13-touchdown season.

McCullough is going into his third season as head coach of the Falcons, and he has turned the Falcons into a consistent competitor in the Lone Star Conference. He holds a 17-7 overall record and is known as one of the most promising young coaches in Division II football. His third season will be a challenging one, as he lost several starters and is still establishing new starters in those positions. Throughout spring football, he established what is likely going to be his new offensive line, returning just one starter.

While there will be familiar faces with the quarterbacks and running backs, the wide receiver group may look completely different. Several of the top receivers are not returning, leaving the door wide open for new players to step up.

On defense, it’s a similar situation to the offense, but leading tackler Tristan Exline, who had 104 tackles, 16.5 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, one interception and one forced fumble, is returning at linebacker.

Though the roster will look significantly different than it did in 2024, the Falcons are looking to have more success and set more records in 2025.
