Entering the 2025 season, the West Alabama Tigers have a lot to look forward to: a new head coach, the potential return of their starting quarterback, and less competition in the Gulf South Conference. The Tigers had an impressive year in 2024, landing second in the conference at a 9-2 overall, 5-1 record, and making an appearance in the NCAA Division II playoffs, and they hope to build off of that.

Former LSU strength and conditioning coach Scott Cochran is set to take the wheel for West Alabama beginning with the 2025-2026 season, which looks promising based on his resume in the SEC. Cochran has worked with teams such as LSU, Alabama, and Georgia, which have each seen national championship titles.

Rising senior quarterback Spencer Arceneaux looks primed to make a comeback for the Tigers, seeing as he moved from backup to starter last season and threw for nearly 2,000 yards and 19 touchdowns. The complete 2025 roster for West Alabama is not yet available, but it would make sense for Arceneaux to return.

The GSC has now dwindled down from eight schools to four, and reigning conference champion Valdosta State is still in the picture and seemingly the only thing in the way of West Alabama's chance at the title.
