In 2025, the Marietta Pioneers are looking to build on their 8-3 2024 season, and have several returning veterans to help them do so. Despite having a new head coach in Tom Kaufman, the Pioneers are an enthusiastic group and are looking to win the Ohio Athletic Conference and compete for a national title.

Kaufman comes to the Pioneers from Gilmour Academy but has extensive experience at the collegiate level, having coached at several Division I programs. 

Running back Vante’ Hodges ran for 727 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2024, the team high, and is now set to return for his senior year. He’s also the team’s top returning receiver and caught six passes for 133 yards and two touchdowns. 

Antwon Johnson is set to start at quarterback, but has limited experience, only playing in four games and completing four passes as a sophomore.

On defense, leading tackler Harley Hopkins is set to return and is looking to hit the 100-tackle mark in his senior season after having 98 in 2024. Hopkins also had 5.5 sacks at linebacker, three quarterback hits, and one forced fumble. 

Brady McManaway, another key part of the Pioneers' defense, will also be returning, and the linebacker had 54 tackles, three sacks, and two interceptions as a junior. Led by the pair of seniors, the Pioneers' defense is in great shape and will look to translate the veteran leadership on defense to offense. 

Though this group is inexperienced on offense, Kaufman spoke to the dedication of his players before even taking the job, stating how he loved the energy he saw from them while he visited the weight room during a scheduled interview. 

Now, he hopes to keep Marietta as a top contender in the OAC.
