After falling just short of the Division III National Championship in 2024, the Mount Union Purple Raiders are looking to seal the deal in 2025 and come away with a national title. The Purple Raiders will have quite the uphill climb, losing four 1,000 yard offensive players.

The alma mater of reigning Super Bowl champion coach Nick Sirriani, the Raiders are no stranger to winning. After winning the Ohio Athletic Conference in 2024, Mount Union earned a bye into the second round of the NCAA Playoffs. 

Sophomore quarterback Mikey Maloney is set to take the lead as starting quarterback despite only completing four passes for 42 yards and one touchdown. Maloney ran for 121 yards during those three games, showing his promise as a dual threat quarterback. 

On defense, the top returning tackler is senior SPUR Weston Arthur, and he had 57 total tackles in 2024. The 2025 Mount Union squad has some big shoes to fill, but the returning players know what it takes to get to the national championship game and the pain of losing. 

Led by head coach Geoff Dartt, who is going into his sixth season at Mount Union, the Purple Raiders have all of the tools for success. Dartt, a Mount Union alum, has spent almost his entire coaching career with his Alma mater, where he won three national championships as an offensive lineman. 

He’s led the Purple Raiders to four straight OAC championships and gone undefeated in conference play each of those years as well. One of the most storied programs in Division III, Dartt is the man to lead the Purple Raiders to victory and he knows how to do it.
