The New Hampshire Wildcats look to have a minor rebrand as many veteran key players are leaving the team in 2025.

The University of New Hampshire Wildcats left the 2024 season ranked No. 24 in the FCS with a 8-5 overall, 6-2 conference record, and could be a force not to be reckoned with in 2025.

Starting quarterback and senior Seth Morgan finished second in the conference in passing touchdowns with 22 and third in passing yards with 2,382, but doesn’t seem to be making a return this time around.

The Wildcats will also be without their captain and senior defensive end Josiah Silver, who played a crucial role in their defensive efforts. Silver ranked No. 3 in the nation in sacks per game at 0.96 and 11th in tackles for loss with 1.50. He racked up 11.5 sacks and 17.5 tackles for loss in total alongside four quarterback hurries.

Redshirt sophomore Matt Vezza is expected to step into the starting role in place of Morgan at the quarterback position. He saw time in four games last season, throwing for 136 yards and two touchdowns combined. During the team’s spring game, Vezza completed two touchdowns and rushed eight times.

Who Is The New Hampshire Football Coach?

Rick Santos returns for another season with his alma mater this year, having brought his extensive football experience to the Wildcats since he was hired in 2021.

Santos served as a legendary quarterback for New Hampshire from 2004-2007, directing the Wildcats to four NCAA Division I AA/FCS playoffs and a 37-14 combined record. He also still holds the FCS single-game record for highest percentage of passes completed at 96.2% against Northeastern in 2005.

Since graduating from New Hampshire, Santos also played the role as associate head coach and quarterbacks coach beginning in 2016 before moving into the interim head coaching position in 2019.
