Towson Football 2025 Season Preview | CAA Football
The Towson Tigers return their star quarterback in what hopes to be another winning season for the squad in 2025.

The Towson Tigers have been steadily making their way up in the CAA conference, having their most successful season in 2024 since 2019.
Going 7-5 overall and 5-2 in conference play, the Tigers were led by quarterback and redshirt senior Sean Brown, who made his starting debut last season and did not disappoint. Brown threw for nearly 2,000 yards and claimed 12 touchdowns over 10 contests. His best performance came against Norfolk State, when he passed for over 300 yards and made three touchdowns.

Brown will return as a graduate student for Towson alongside key wide receiver John Dunmore, who led the team in receiving yards with 619 and five touchdowns on 42 catches. The two could make for a daunting pair in what will likely be both of their final seasons with the Tigers.
However, Towson said goodbye to star tight end Carter Runyon, who signed with the Las Vegas Raiders as an undrafted free agent this spring. Runyon caught 45 receptions for 502 yards and five touchdowns last season, earning himself All-American status for the second consecutive year. During his two years as a Tiger, Runyon amassed 88 catches, 1,051 receiving yards and nine touchdowns.
Brown and Dunmore look to be the next dynamic duo in 2025 as Towson hopes to climb further up the CAA standings.
Who Is the Towson Football Coach?
Maryland native Pete Shinnick returns to Towson for his third season following an impressive 2024 campaign where he led the Tigers to their first seven-win season in five years.
Shinnick gained some promising wins in his first year back in 2023 as Towson defeated each of the CAA preseason favorites on the road, New Hampshire and William & Mary.
Before coming to Towson, Shinnick brought the University of West Florida to a Division II national championship title in 2019 and playoff appearances in four out of the last five seasons he coached.
