Western New Mexico Football is looking to be a force in the Lone Star Conference in 2025, with several returning players. Here's everything to know.

Looking to bounce back from a 2-9 season in 2024, the Western New Mexico Mustangs are returning several key offensive players, including quarterback Connor Ackerley, who saw action in four games, throwing for 621 yards and six touchdowns. Running back Zay Savoie ran for 214 yards in 11 games and had three touchdowns.

Top wide receiver Deuce Zimmerman is also returning, and he had 39 catches for 570 yards and seven touchdowns last season. Davey Morales is also returning, and he had 27 catches for 274 yards and two touchdowns.
On defense, Cole Lalama is the top returning tackler, and the linebacker had 115 tackles, 74 solo and five tackles for loss. Ruben Gamboa is the next returning defensive player, and at defensive back, he had 49 total tackles and one fumble recovery.
With key players returning on both sides of the ball, the Mustangs are set up for success in the Lone Star Conference.
