The Hampton Pirates are looking to improve on a 5-7 overall and 2-6 conference performance in 2025 and are armed with several returning players. They have also added some key players from the transfer portal, hoping to transform the Pirates into a winning team.

The Pirates are returning four offensive starters, including running back Ja’Quan Snipes and tight end T.K. Paisant. In 2024, Snipes ran for 531 yards on 95 carries and six touchdowns while Paisant had nine catches for 111 yards. 

On defense, they are returning the same amount of starters, with linebacker Michael Mathews-Canty, Richard Kramer, Will Hicks and Cam Sturdifen. Matthews-Canty is a linebacker who recorded 34 total tackles,1.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks in his freshman season, leading the returning starters. Kramer, a defensive lineman, had 12 total tackles, 3.5 TFL and 2.5 sacks. Hicks and Sturdifen are both defensive backs and Hicks led that group with 48 tackles and three TFL while Sturdifen had 16 tackles, two TFL and 1.5 sacks. 

The Pirates added 11 players out of the transfer portal, including quarterback Isaiah Freeman, a senior from Lincoln-PA. In 2024, Freeman threw for 904 yards and eight touchdowns as well as rushing for 225 yards and five touchdowns. Now, the senior will look to lead the Pirates to a winning season, armed with a strong wide receiver group, including Jaden Wimberly, who caught 11 passes for 65 yards in 2025 and will be a leader in a young wide receiver room.
