Simply put, the Saginaw Valley State football team failed to finish games in 2024. 

If the Cardinals had played all four quarters like they did the first couple, the season would’ve looked much different.

All the team can do now is learn from what happened last season and make the most of the 11 opportunities it will have with a clean slate in 2025.

The fresh opportunity for SVSU football gets underway at home at Harvey Randall Wickes Memorial Stadium in University Center, Michigan. The Cardinals will welcome Northeastern State to town Aug. 28.

The quest to improve on last year’s tie for third place in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, and just missing out on the playoffs, will begin Oct. 4 when Northern Michigan comes to visit for the first conference action of the year.

A couple of new additions to the coaching staff will be in place to help head coach Ryan Brady into his sixth season with the Cardinals. He is 33-22 since taking the role, including last year’s 7-4 record. The team was 4-3 in GLIAC play.
