2025 Women's Freestyle US Open And HS Showcase: Stock Watch

Check out whose stock rose after the 2025 Women's Freestyle US Open and Girls’ High School Recruiting Showcase in Las Vegas on April 23-25.

This year’s US Open had plenty of compelling results. Here’s whose stock increased after one of the most prestigious domestic events of the year.

US Open

50 kg: Audrey Jimenez, 1st
Jimenez has been on a tear since finishing second at the 2024 Olympic Trials to eventual Olympic champion Sarah Hildebrandt. The 19-year-old hasn’t surrendered a point between 11 matches at the U20 World Team Trials and US Open — and has all techs and falls.

50 kg: Kendra Ryan, 3rd
Ryan has wins over five national champions and national finalists, beginning with the National Collegiate Women’s Wrestling Championships.

2025 NCWWC, 3rd at 110 pounds — wins over NCWWC (NCAA) champions Emilie Gonzalez and Ava Bayless.

2025 U23 Nationals, 4th at 53 kg (116 lbs) — win over NCWWC finalist Clare Booe.

2025 US Open, 3rd at 50 kg (110 lbs) — wins over Bayless, NAIA champ Mia Palumbo, four-time NCWWC and three-time age-level World champ Emily Shilson, and U23 National champion Heather Crull.

53 kg: Brianna Gonzalez, 1st
Gonzalez won the US Open after finishing fifth at the 2025 National Collegiate Women’s Wrestling Championships. Her run included wins over two-time college national champ Jasylyn Gallegos, US Open and age-level World champ Katie Gomez, U23 World champ and NCWWC champ Sage Mortimer, and two-time NCWWC champ Felicity Taylor. The win over Taylor was a rematch of the 2024 National Collegiate Women’s Wrestling Championship finals, where Gonzalez fell 9-2.

55 kg: Everest Leydecker, 2nd
Leydecker reached the US Open finals as a high school junior two weeks after crushing everyone at the U20 World Team Trials. She defeated college national champ Julia Vidallon, two-time age-level World medalist and two-time NCWWC champ Amani Jones, and 2024 Senior World Teamer Areana Villaescusa before falling to 2024 U20 World champion Cristelle Rodriguez, 4-1, in the finals.

59 kg: Abby Nette, 1st
Nette wrestled inspired after losing her father two months ago. The 2022 World Teamer looked better than ever, notching two 10-0 techs and two falls.

62 kg: Savannah Cosme, 3rd
Cosme took a surprise loss at the U23 Nationals but rebounded in Las Vegas to finish third, falling only to eventual champion Kayla Miracle, a two-time Olympian and two-time World silver medalist.

65 kg: Aine Drury, 1st
Drury vindicated her disappointing fifth-place finish at the 2025 National Collegiate Women’s Wrestling Championships with a US Open title. She pinned 2023 World bronze medalist Jennifer Page in the semis before a gritty 8-7 win over rival Bella Mir in the finals.

72 kg: Alex Glaude, 1st
Glaude cried tears of joy after winning this year’s US Open. She defeated two Final Xers on her way to the title.

76 kg: Kylie Welker, 1st
It’s hard to believe Welker’s stock could go any higher, but it did after the 2025 US Open. She currently has no domestic peer at 76 kg after scoring four straight first-period shutout techs over a field with a combined 13 college national titles.

Girls’ High School Recruiting Showcase

110: Sophia Marie Gonzales, 1st
Gonzalez turned a 7-1 loss to Aubree Gutierrez in the California state semis into a 6-5 win at the Girls’ High School Recruiting Showcase finals. She also defeated Gonzalez, 5-4, at Women’s Nationals two weeks ago before splitting matches at a Fargo qualifier a week later. This is quickly becoming one of the country’s best high school rivalries.

145: Eve Skrocki, 1st
No. 25 Skrocki had four falls and a tech, including a 44-second fall over No. 23 in the finals, to take the 145-pound title.

170: Ciyanna Okocha, 1st
Okocha entered unranked and won the 170-pound title with a 9-7 win over No. 5 Millie Azlin in the finals.

235: Tilisa Matakaiongo, 1st
No. 7 Matakaiongo won all four matches by fall, including a pin over No. 1 Tirza Twoteeth in the finals.
