The Northern Michigan football team enters year two of the Shane Richardson era hoping to give the coach his first win since taking over in December 2022.  

The first year was a difficult one for the Wildcats as they went 0-11 as Richardson attempts to build his program. As the coach of UNC at Pembroke from 2014-2022, he went 37-48 including a 10-2 record in 2016. Richardson played for Northern Michigan from 1997-2000.
