Jenna Annecchiarico, Charleston

Annecchiarico tallied her eighth 20-point performance this season, leading Charleston to its third straight win and sixth in the past seven tries. The redshirt senior poured in 26 points on 10-of-15 shooting, including two three-point makes in a 97-58 victory at UNCW. The 10 field goals mark a season-high for Annecchiarico, who had an all-around performance by adding six rebounds, five steals and four assists. The Cougars’ point guard has at least one steal in every game this season, with five or more on five occasions, ranking 12th nationally in steals per game (3.1).

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Paris Locke, North Carolina A&T

Freshman | F | Baltimore, Md. / McDonough 

On Sunday, Locke scored a career-high 18 points in North Carolina A&T’s double overtime setback against Monmouth. The freshman forward logged 46 minutes, shooting 7-of-16 from the floor while adding seven rebounds, a season-best four assists, two steals and one block. It marked her third double-digit scoring effort during her rookie campaign. 

CONFERENCE NOTES:

SEAWOLVES TAKE LATE LEAD: Stony Brook moved into sole possession of first place in the CAA standings following a 2-0 week. There was movement atop the conference standings even though the top five teams are separated by just 2.5 games. The Seawolves (11-2) moved 1.0 game ahead of North Carolina A&T (10-3), who is 0.5 a game ahead of Charleston (9-3) in third. Monmouth (9-4) moved into fourth following its win over A&T and a William & Mary (8-4) setback.

WHO’S GOT NEXT: Monmouth, who extended its program-record road winning streak to 10 games, returns home for an important week ahead. The Hawks will host Drexel (6-6) on Friday before entertaining Charleston (9-3) in a battle for third place in the league standings on Sunday. Another game of note on Sunday is Delaware visiting Towson, as the Blue Hens and Tigers are separated by just 1.0 game in the CAA standings. 

NOTHING BUT NET: As of Monday, Feb. 19, Stony Brook remained in the top 100 of the NCAA NET Rankings at No. 68, while Charleston and North Carolina A&T cracked the top 150 at No. 143 and No. 148, respectively. Additionally, Monmouth (161), William & Mary (175), Delaware (182), Drexel (189), and Towson (198) remained among the top 200. 

CAA HOOPS IN THE MID-MAJOR TOP 25: Three CAA teams were recognized in the latest College Insider Mid-Major Top 25 poll. Stony Brook remained ranked, at No. 12, while North Carolina A&T and Charleston received votes. At least one conference team has been recognized in every poll, with multiple teams acknowledged in 13 of 15 weeks.  

TEAM NOTES:

Campbell

• Campbell went 1-1 this weekend, dropping a closely contested game to Monmouth (53-49) before knocking off William & Mary (57-46).  

• In the victory, Svenia Nürenberg matched a career-high with 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds. For the week, she averaged 13.0 points and 7.5 rebounds per game.

• On Friday, Christabel Ezumah recorded game-highs of 16 points and 12 rebounds, marking her sixth double-double this season.

Charleston 

• Five Cougars reached double figures as Charleston rolled to a 97-58 road victory over UNCW on Sunday. CofC has won three straight games and six of its past seven.

• Jenna Annecchiarico paced the Cougars with 26 points on 10-of-15 shooting. She added six rebounds, five steals and four assists. It marks her eighth 20-point performance this winter.

• Zoe McCrary recorded her first-ever double-double in the victory. The senior contributed 11 points and a career-high 16 rebounds. 

Delaware

• Delaware dropped a heartbreaker to Drexel, 61-59, in its lone game this weekend. The Blue Hens led for more than 30 minutes in the contest but went scoreless over the final 5:12.

• Rebecca Demeke paced UD with a game-high 18 points off the bench, shooting 6-of-8 from three-point range. It marks back-to-back games in double figures for the senior.

• Ande’a Cherisier also reached double figures, adding 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting. The freshman has at least 10 points in nine games this season. 

Drexel 

• Drexel split two close games over the weekend. The Dragons fell to Towson (51-48) in overtime before a fourth-quarter comeback in their victory over Delaware (61-59).

• Chloe Hodges averaged 16.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per game for the Dragons. On Friday, she had a career-high 23 points with 10 rebounds for her first-ever double-double.

• On Sunday, Amaris Baker and Laine McGurk reached double figures to fuel the victory. Baker had a team-high 15 points, and McGurk added 13. 

Elon 

• Elon went 1-1 during its weekend road trip. The Phoenix defeated Northeastern (53-37) on Friday before falling to Stony Brook on Sunday (61-32).

• On Friday, Ruby Willard set new career highs in points and rebounds to pace Elon. The sophomore tallied 15 points and six boards in 29 minutes off the bench. 

• Ajia James averaged 8.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game over the weekend. James had 12 points and nine boards on Friday before a season-high 12 rebounds on Sunday.

Hampton 

• Hampton fell to N.C. A&T 73-58 on Friday. The Lady Pirates kept it close in the first half, but trailing 30-26, they were outscored 26-16 in the third quarter. 

• Camryn Hill led Hampton with 19 points, adding four rebounds and a season-high four steals. Hill has reached double figures in seven straight games and 16 times this winter. 

• Tyra Kennedy added 10 points off the bench to match her season-high point total. The freshman also collected two rebounds. 

Hofstra

• Hofstra went 1-1 this weekend, falling to Stony Brook (81-48) on the road Friday before returning home for a victory over Northeastern (66-46) on Sunday. 

• Sorelle Ineza reached double figures in both games, averaging 11.5 points per game. The senior has at least 10 points in five straight contests and 11 this season.

• On Sunday, Emma Von Essen paced Hofstra with 22 points on 9-of-13 shooting, including four three-pointers. It marks her third 20-point effort this winter. 

Monmouth 

• Monmouth went 2-0 away from home to set a program record for consecutive road victories with 10. The Hawks won both games by four points, defeating Campbell and N.C. A&T in double OT. 

• Against A&T, Jania Hall scored all 21 of her career-high points in the second half and overtime. The senior has reached double figures 12 times off the bench this season. 

• Ariana Vanderhoop reached double figures in both contests, leading the Hawks with 10 points at Campbell and adding 11 against A&T. She has reached double figures 11 times this year.

North Carolina A&T

• N.C. A&T went 1-1 this weekend, defeating Hampton (73-58) on Friday before a double-overtime setback to Monmouth (80-76) on Sunday.

• Maleia Bracone averaged 13.5 points per game and reached double figures in both contests. She added 6.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists per contest. Bracone has reached double figures in 17 games this season, including five straight.

• Chaniya Clark also reached double figures in both games, averaging 13.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. Clark had 12 points on Friday and 15 on Sunday.

UNCW

• UNCW dropped its lone decision this weekend to Charleston (97-58). The Cougars raced out to a 21-6 lead after the first, and UNCW could not overcome the deficit.

• Taylor Henderson paced UNCW with 24 points, adding seven rebounds. The redshirt freshman tallied her fifth 20-point effort this year and has reached double figures 15 times.

• Kylah Sliver contributed 13 points and eight rebounds, reaching double figures for the fourth straight game. The freshman has at least 10 points in 12 games this season. 

Northeastern 

• Northeastern dropped back-to-back contests over the weekend, falling to Elon (53-37) at home on Friday and at Hofstra (66-46) on Sunday.

• On Friday, Deja Bristol paced the Huskies with 11 points and 11 rebounds to record her fourth double-double this season. She has scored in double figures 15 times this winter. 

• On Sunday, Derin Erdogan and Maddie Vizza reached double figures for the Huskies. Erdogan had a team-high 12 points, and Vizza added 11.

Stony Brook 

• Stony Brook had a dominant weekend, earning back-to-back 25-plus-point victories. SBU defeated Hofstra (81-48) on Friday and Elon (61-32) on Sunday. 

• Sherese Pittman averaged 16.0 points and 9.5 rebounds per game to pace the Seawolves. She reached double figures in both games, including her first double-double this year with 17 points and 12 boards on Sunday. 

• Three other Seawolves - Khari Clark, Gigi Gonzalez and Victoria Keenan - reached double figures this weekend. Additionally, Gonzalez tallied her fifth 20-point effort this year.

Towson 

• Towson edged Drexel 51-48 in overtime on Friday. The Tigers went 21-of-27 from the free throw line, including 5-of-6 in the extra frame, while DU only had 16 attempts.

• Kylie Kornegay-Lucas finished with her fourth double-double this season, pacing TU with 17 points and 14 rebounds. The redshirt senior added a season-high five blocks and four steals defensively. 

• Alexia Nelson and Patricia Anumgba combined to shoot 17-of-19 at the free throw line, adding 14 and 10 points, respectively.

William & Mary 

• W&M fell on the road to Campbell 57-46 on Sunday. The Tribe led 39-38 after three quarters but was outscored 19-7 over the final 10 minutes. 

• Nylah Young paced W&M with 20 points on 8-of-13 shooting while adding five rebounds. It marks her seventh 20-point performance this season and fifth straight in double figures.

• Cassidy Geddes added 11 points on 5-of-11 shooting with four steals and three assists. The freshman has reached double figures in 11 games this season.
