A heartland rematch is on in South Florida on Sunday.

The Women’s Gulf Coast Showcase championship game is set as No. 5 Iowa and star Caitlin Clark will play the only team to beat them this season, Kansas State, at 7:30 p.m. EST on Nov. 26 in Estero, Florida.

The No. 5 Hawkeyes took care of Florida Gulf Coast in the semifinals 100-62, while No.16 Kansas State beat No. 18 UNC in the tournament’s first matchup AP top-25 teams.

Clark scored 29 against Purdue Fort Wayne on the opening night of the tournament and added 21 against overmatched FGCU. Meanwhile, Lee Ayoka and Serena Sundell powered the Wildcats into the final with wins over Western Kentucky and North Carolina.

Here are five things to know about No. 5 Iowa vs. No. 16 Kansas State in the Women’s Gulf Coast Showcase Final

Kansas State vs. Iowa: What Happened On Nov. 16

Kansas State handed then No. 2-ranked Iowa a 65-58 loss in Iowa City as KSU star Lee Ayoka scored 22 and grabbed 12 rebounds. The all-time leader in double-doubles for K-State proved to be a tough matchup for the Hawkeyes, who start four guards.

Iowa led 30-29 at halftime, but K-State outscored the Hawkeyes 23-14 in the fourth quarter to secure the win.

Caitlin Clark had 24 points, six off her average, in the game. Kansas State forced the superstar into a tough shooting night as Clark went 9-for-32 overall and 2-of-16 from 3-point range.

All-Time Numbers For Iowa WBB vs. Kansas State

This is the eighth meeting between the two programs and Kansas State leads the series 6-1 and have won three games in a row.

The Hawkeyes have not beaten the Wildcats since the 2010-2011 season, when Iowa won 68-62.

How Many WNBA Draft Prospects Will Play In Iowa vs. Kansas State WBB?

Clark is the projected No.1 pick by many outlets of a WNBA Draft that could be loaded with lots of stars.

The returning National Player of The Year is competing with UConn star Paige Bueckers, herself a former National Player of the Year, along with LSU stars Angel Reese and Hailey Van Lith.

There are only 12 teams in the WNBA, so being drafted isn't easy. Kansas State center Lee Ayoka likely has the best chance to be draft in the three-round draft.

Who Will Win Women's Gulf Coast Showcase MVP

Clark is clearly the favorite to add another accolded to her resume. She is averaging 25 points per game in the tournament. For Kansas State, the front runner is likely Ayoka after the game against UNC, but Sundell could also be in the running.

The tournament will announce the MVP and all-tournament team following the championship game.

Michigan Women’s Basketball Won The 2022 Women’s Gulf Coast Showcase

Michigan Women’s Basketball defeated Baylor 84-75 in the 2022 final after the Wolverines took care of Air Force and South Florida leading up to the game.

The Wolverines ended the Baylor game on a 20-5 scoring run as Emily Kiser was named the Gulf Coast Showcase MVP.

Michigan went on to have a 23-10 season, but went just 11-7 in Big Ten play. The Wolverines reached the second round of the Women’s NCAA Tournament before losing to eventual champion LSU, 66-42.
