WEEKLY HONORS

CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Hanna Garber, Delaware

R-Senior | Third Base | Lancaster, Pennsylvania / Lampeter-Strasburg

Garber was nearly perfect at the plate over the weekend, hitting .800 (8-for-10) with three multi-hit efforts in Delaware’s weekend sweep of Monmouth. 

The redshirt senior third baseman tallied two doubles and one triple, scoring three runs and driving in two. 

Garber opened the series with a 3-for-3 effort, recording a triple, run scored and RBI, while drawing a walk. 

In Game 2, she was 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles, two runs scored and one RBI, helping to clinch the series. 

Garber concluded the weekend by going 3-for-4, helping the Blue Hens to their second straight CAA sweep.  

CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Madyson Peters, Towson

Junior | Catcher | Chandler, Arizona / Basha

Peters batted .533 (8-for-15), posting a .611 on-base percentage. She had six runs batted in and six runs scored, leading Towson to a 4-1 week and conference sweep. 

The junior catcher hit safely in all five games of the weekend CAA series, including three straight multi-hit efforts.

Peters went 2-for-3, hitting two doubles with three runs scored, two RBIs and two walks in the weekend opener against Drexel. 

She followed the performance by going 2-for-4 with two doubles, four RBIs and one run scored in Game 2, before a 2-for-2 effort with a run scored in the weekend finale, as Towson secured the sweep over the Dragons. 

PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Emily Winburn, Delaware

Senior | Fort Lauderdale, Florida / Chaminade Madonna   

Winburn went 2-0 in the circle, throwing 12 innings of shutout ball, with eight strikeouts. She led Delaware to a weekend sweep over Monmouth. 

The senior right-hander fired her eighth complete game this spring, scattering four hits and striking out five in the series opener. 

She was back in the circle for the weekend finale, tossing five scoreless innings, with five hits and three punchouts, to earn the series sweep for the Blue Hens.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Megan Ellis, North Carolina A&T

Freshman | Designated Player/Pitcher | Creedmoor, North Carolina / South Granville 

Ellis batted .363 (4-for-11) and recorded a .417 on-base percentage. She had one run and one RBI, while going 1-0 in the circle to lead North Carolina A&T to its first CAA series victory. 

Ellis hit safely in three of the Aggies’ four games, including both wins over Hofstra in conference play. 

On Sunday, Ellis tossed a complete game, allowing three hits and no earned runs, while going 1-for-3 at the plate, with one RBI and one run scored, in a 5-2 win for A&T. 

In the rubber match against Hofstra, the freshman utility player was 2-for-3 at the plate, with a walk, as the Aggies earned an 8-7 walk-off victory to secure the series win.

CONFERENCE NOTES

CONFERENCE RACE HEATS UP  

• Delaware moved to first place atop the CAA standings following its second straight conference sweep. 

The Blue Hens are 7-2 in league play ahead of Elon, which has won three conference series, at 8-3. 

UNCW is one of two teams with two CAA sweeps and has eight league wins at 8-4.  

BREAK OUT THE BROOMS  

• Nine of the 17 three-game conference series this spring have resulted in sweeps. Even more impressive, six teams have earned a CAA series sweep. 

Charleston, Elon, Hofstra and Towson have one series sweep, while Delaware and UNCW have swept two.

TEAM NOTES

Charleston

• Shealyn Starks leads the Charleston lineup, batting .300 this season. The junior has a team-high 24 hits, with six RBIs and six runs scored. Starks enters the weekend on a four-game hitting streak.

• Payton Lemire (3-10) leads the Cougars with a 3.15 ERA and 77.2 innings pitched. The senior right-hander has a team-best 58 punchouts, including five or more in three straight starts. 

• Malaka Belser paces Charleston with 16 RBIs, and Aniz Roman has a team-high 19 runs scored. 

Roman ranks eighth in the CAA in runs scored and has at least one in four straight games. 

Delaware

• Hanna Garber was nearly perfect at the plate over the weekend, hitting .800 (8-for-10) with three multi-hit efforts. The redshirt senior third baseman tallied two doubles and one triple, scoring three runs and driving in two. 

• Emily Winburn went 2-0 in the circle, throwing 12 innings of shutout ball with eight strikeouts. 

The senior right-hander fired her eighth complete game this spring and second complete game shutout in league play. 

• Julz Garber batted .500 (6-for-12) over the weekend, recording two multi-hit efforts. She added a walk and scored three runs. 

Garber has two or more hits in six of her past seven games.

Drexel 

• Lily Meuninck batted .444 (8-for-18) to lead the Drexel lineup, recording a team-best six RBIs. 

Meuninck hit safely in four of five games, including three multi-hit efforts. She also scored a pair of runs.

• Kylee Guerrera hit .357 (5-for-14) and scored a team-high six runs. She concluded the weekend with at least one run in four straight games. Guerrera also posted a .444 on-base percentage with three walks and added an RBI.

• Ameryn Humble tallied six hits, five runs scored and three RBIs throughout the week. Humble batted .333, hitting safely in three of the five games.  

Elon 

• Kaitlin Wells batted .500 (3-for-6), hitting safely in both games. The sophomore outfielder recorded two home runs, a team-high six RBIs and two runs scored. 

Wells extended her hitting streak to five straight. 

• McKenna McCard was 1-0 in the circle, throwing five scoreless innings. The sophomore right-hander scattered three hits and struck out three, limiting the opposition to a .167 batting average. 

• Drew Menscer matched a team-high three hits, batting .429 for the weekend. She hit safely in both games, recording two runs scored and one RBI. 

Menscer has a hit in five straight games.

Hampton 

• Janae Lyles batted .500 (3-for-6) for the weekend, including a 3-for-4 effort in the Hampton victory. Lyles had a team-high four RBIs and scored one run. 

The fifth-year first baseman has a hit in eight of her nine games this spring. 

• Kayla Domon was 3-for-6 at the plate over the weekend with two runs scored and one RBI. Domon tallied her third three-hit performance this season in the weekend finale. 

The fifth-year outfielder has eight multi-hit efforts this spring.

• Emily Kepple batted .400, going 2-for-5 at the plate, and drove in one run. Kepple was 2-for-2 in her first game over the weekend, marking her third multi-hit game this season.

Hofstra

• Meghan Giordano was 5-for-17 at the plate with four homers, slugging 1.059 for the weekend. Giordano tallied 13 RBIs and seven runs scored. 

She leads the CAA with 11 home runs and is third with 26 RBIs. 

• Hayley Venturini went 1-0 in the circle and posted a 0.72 ERA in 9.2 innings of work. Venturini tallied 15 punch outs, while surrendering six hits and holding the opposition to a .176 batting average. 

• Chelsea Manto batted a team-best .400, recording a team-high six hits. Manto hit safely in four games, including a pair of multi-hit efforts. She also scored five runs and had one RBI. 

Monmouth

• Devin Coia batted a team-best .462, with a team-high six hits. Coia hit safely in four of five games, including two multi-hit efforts. 

She ended the weekend on a three-game hitting streak. 

• Billie Kerwood tossed a team-high 17 innings, recording 19 strikeouts. The sophomore right-hander posted a 2.47 ERA for the week. 

Kerwood leads the CAA with 90 punchouts and has seven or more in six appearances. 

• Mackenzie Bloss tallied four hits and batted .267 for the week. The freshman outfielder hit safely in four games, including back-to-back ending the week. She also had the lone RBI for the Hawks.

North Carolina A&T

• Megan Ellis batted .363 (4-for-11) and recorded a .417 on-base percentage with one run and one RBI, while going 1-0 in the circle. She improved to 4-1 in the circle with the win.

Ellis also recorded hits in three of four games, including her third multi-hit effort. 

• Jai Deese batted .273 (3-for-11) with a team-high five RBIs. Deese hit safely and recorded an RBI in the last two games of the weekend. 

In addition, she tallied her 10th multi-hit effort this season.

• Joey Barkhimer tossed a team-high 9.1 innings and posted a 2.25 ERA with five strikeouts.

• Kayla Douglas picked up a win in the circle, throwing six innings with a 2.33 ERA.  

UNCW

• Janel Gamache batted .333 (3-for-9), with two RBIs and one run scored, and went 1-0 in the circle. 

Gamache tossed her second complete game, allowing one earned run in her start. 

In addition, she hit safely in 2-of-3 games. 

• Arial Pearce batted a team-high .375 (3-for-8), posting a .545 on-base percentage. Pearce scored a team-best three runs and had one RBI. 

The sophomore has reached base safely in six straight games.  

• Tayler Vitola recorded four hits and two multi-hit efforts, batting .364. Vitola tallied a team-high five RBIs and scored three runs. 

Her four RBIs in the series opener mark a career-high.

Stony Brook

• Catherine Anne Kupinski batted a team-best .417 (5-for-12), recording four RBIs and one run scored. Kupinski hit safely in 3-of-4 games, including two multi-hit efforts. In addition, four of her five hits went for extra bases.

• Ashton Melaas factored into all four decisions, going 2-2 in the circle. Melaas posted a 3.07 ERA with six strikeouts and tossed a team-high 13.2 innings. 

• Corinne Badger batted .385, matching a team-high with five hits. She also recorded a team-best four runs and three RBIs. Badger hit safely and scored in three of four games. She also had two multi-hit games and tallied two homers.

Towson 

• Madyson Peters batted .533 (8-for-15), posting a .611 on-base percentage with six runs batted in and six runs scored. The junior catcher hit safely in all five games, including three straight multi-hit efforts in the weekend CAA series. 

• Cara Bohner hit safely in all four starts, recording a team-high six RBIs. Bohner batted .385 and added one run scored. 

The freshman infielder has a hit in six consecutive games and an RBI in five straight

• Maddie Gardner went 2-1 in the circle, throwing a team-high 19 innings. The junior right-hander posted a 2.58 ERA with 23 strikeouts. Gardner had two double-digit strikeout performances and has three total this spring.
