Savanna Brooks is the SAC Softball Player of the Week, while Morgan Beeler is the SAC Pitcher of the Week for games played during Week 8 of the 2023 season.

Wingate’s Savanna Brooks was selected as the South Atlantic Conference Varsity Gems Softball Player of the Week, while Lenoir-Rhyne’s Morgan Beeler was named the SAC Varsity Gems Softball Pitcher of the Week for games played during Week 8 of the 2023 season, the conference office announced Tuesday.

Brooks, a sophomore from Wingate, North Carolina, had five hits on the week, including a double and two homers. She drove in nine runs and scored five times for the Bulldogs. 

Brooks had four RBIs in each game against Barton, with a homer in both contests. 

She added an RBI in Sunday’s win against Tusculum and had a hit and run scored in the series finale.

She ended the week with a .455 batting average and a 1.091 slugging percentage.

Beeler, a senior pitcher from Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina, went 2-0 in the circle this week with two complete games. 

She threw her third shutout in the last 14 days. The senior allowed three hits and struck out seven in Game 1 against Coker on Thursday. 

Beeler struck out 20 in just 13 2/3 innings (she leads the SAC in strikeouts with 124) and recorded a 1.02 ERA on the week.
