Battle On The Border Is The Premier In-Season Showcase Event

We opened the season with ninth-ranked American Heritage's season opener and chased it with the game of the year in South Carolina, but the biggest collection talent on one field this season can be found at the Independence Bowl in Shreveport, LA, next weekend.

That's because the Battle on the Border includes 10 teams -- not two -- in what amounts to the premier high school showcase event this season. And we're streaming all five games live on FloFootball.

Here's just some of what you'll see.

Grayson High School (Loganville, GA)
Georgia's top-ranked team checks in at No. 5 in the MaxPreps Xcellent 25 this week after bouncing perennial powerhouse Hoover (AL) 35-26 in its season-opener. Head coach Christian Hunnicutt's Rams are once again loaded with talent.

Most notably…

Owen Pappoe
Pappoe isn't just the top-ranked linebacker in his own class, he's the nation's most highly regarded high school linebacker period. The 16-year-old would be a starter on the outside at a majority of Division I programs this fall.

John Curtis Christian (River Ridge, LA)
The Times Picayune's No. 1-ranked team in Louisiana will oppose Pappoe and Grayson in Shreveport, setting up one of the most anticipated cross-state prep matchups of the season. The Patriots' J.T. Curtis is the winningest head coach in Louisiana history -- and was inducted into the Allstate Sugar Bowl's Greater New Orleans Sports Hall of Fame this summer.

Terrace Marshall & Justin Rogers
Bossier City (LA) Parkway will feature arguably the top pitch-and-catch combo in all of high school football. Marshall is the consensus top-ranked wide receiver in the country -- and the No. 8 player overall. Rogers, a TCU commit and superstar in his own right, is the nation's No. 2 dual-threat quarterback.

Daxton Hill
Tulsa Booker T. Washington defensive back Daxton Hill is the top-rated player in Oklahoma and the No. 2 safety overall in the class of 2019. Hill has had a busy summer, fielding scholarship offers from Michigan, Texas, Ohio State, Alabama, Penn State, and Baylor -- all since his sophomore year came to a close in May.

Brian Williams
The Dallas Bishop Dunne safety headlines a team that head coach Michael Johnson anticipates will send 17 players to Division I programs in the next two years. The standout defensive back is the brother of former Arkansas running back Rawleigh Williams III and the No. 1-ranked player in Texas in the class of 2019. Johnson calls him the quarterback of the defense.

Brentwood Academy
The Tennessee powerhouse is stocked with talent, including three of the top 12 players in the state. Wide receiver Camron Johnson (Vanderbilt), linebacker Jack Sirmon (Washington), and tight end Gavin Schoenwald (Vanderbilt) are each ranked No. 1 at his position within the Volunteer State.
