'Last Chance U' Star Isaiah Wright Is Ineligible
Last Chance U star Isaiah Wright ruled academically ineligible to compete at West Georgia.
"Last Chance U" star Isaiah Wright is no longer with the University of West Georgia football program.
According to an athletic department spokesperson, Wright was with the Wolves in the spring but was ruled academically ineligible following the conclusion of his first semester at the school and has since left the team.
The former East Mississippi Community College running back won the hearts of viewers while starring on the Netflix documentary -- and gained the attention of Division I coaches while excelling on the field in 2015.
Things turned for Wright in 2016 -- season two of "Last Chance U" -- as lingering concussion symptoms, an ankle injury, and an increasingly toxic relationship with head coach Buddy Stephens effectively torpedoed his stock as a prospect.
After reportedly holding offers from Auburn, Indiana, and West Virginia, among others, Wright was ultimately forced to settle for a spot at Division II West Georgia.
Now, it seems, his playing career at West Georgia -- and beyond -- is very much in jeopardy. The hope for all fans of the once-electrifying Wright is that he bounces back in the classroom so as to provide more moments like this one on the field:
